This 2-Day Inca Trail Peru route covers 12 km and is the perfect alternative for travelers seeking the magic of the Inca Trail in less time. This 2-day trek combines hiking and train travel, offering both adventure and comfort. To join this tour, you’ll need an official Machu Picchu entrance ticket and a Short Inca Trail permit — for more on longer alternatives, see our 4-Day Classic Inca Trail or 5-Day Inca Trail.

Discover history, nature, and culture on one of the most iconic routes in South America, and arrive at Machu Picchu the way the Incas once did — by foot along their sacred trail.

Why 2 Days Inca Trail?

With two days on the trail, you get two unforgettable moments inside Machu Picchu: on day one, you’ll enter the citadel in the afternoon to watch the sunset over the ruins; on day two, you’ll return at sunrise, before the crowds arrive, for your full guided tour of the sacred site.

Why Km 104?

This is the point where travelers begin the 2-Day Inca Trail Peru hike to Machu Picchu. At Km 104 there’s a checkpoint where travelers show their passports and guides show their licenses. To enter the Machu Picchu National Park, rangers check tickets and passports at the controls to track how many people enter and leave the park.

Is There an ATM in Town?

Aguas Calientes is a touristy town, and yes — there are ATMs available if you need cash during your trip.
