The day before your hike, we’ll meet you at your hotel in Cusco for a personal briefing. Your guide will explain what to pack, how to prepare, and what to expect on the trail, while answering all your questions. This meeting ensures you start the Inca Trail confident, ready, and excited for the journey ahead.
Our 5-Day Inca Trail adventure begins in the city of Cusco. Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up directly from your hotel and drive you to the charming town of Ollantaytambo, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing by vehicle to Kilometer 82 — the official starting point of the Classic Inca Trail.
The first day covers a gentle 11 km (6.8 miles) hike leading to our first campsite at Hatunchaka. This special 5-Day Inca Trail itinerary is designed for travelers seeking a slower and more relaxed experience allowing you to hike with fewer people on the trail, take your time, and truly connect with nature and the spiritual energy of the Andes
The second day is one of the most anticipated and unforgettable moments for every Inca Trail hiker. It is not just a physical challenge; it is a personal journey. Reaching the highest point of the entire trail, Dead Woman’s Pass, is a true test of strength, determination, and spirit.
Today’s trek covers 12 km (7.5 miles), including a challenging 6-hour uphill climb that pushes you both mentally and physically. However, standing at the summit is an incredibly rewarding experience — a moment of achievement and triumph that will stay with you forever.
After conquering Dead Woman’s Pass, the trail becomes much easier, allowing you to relax, take in the spectacular Andean scenery, and enjoy the journey that lies ahead
You will wake up to a special treat as our team brings you a hot cup of “wake-up tea” directly to your tent, allowing you to start the day gently and full of energy. Afterward, enjoy a delicious and hearty breakfast to prepare yourself for another unforgettable journey along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Today’s hike covers approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) and is filled with surprises and breathtaking moments. As we make our way along the trail, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Peruvian Andes. Gradually, the landscape transforms as we enter the edge of the Amazon rainforest, revealing a new world of lush vegetation and incredible biodiversity.
Along the way, we will visit several fascinating Inca archaeological sites, each with its own unique story, bringing the ancient trail to life and deepening your connection with this sacred path.
This day begins with a special touch — a hot cup of coffee delivered directly to your tent, allowing you to wake up gently and peacefully. Afterward, enjoy a hearty breakfast as we prepare for the final stage of our journey toward the crown jewel of the Andes: Machu Picchu.
After breakfast, we will explore the impressive ruins of Phuyupatamarca, known as “The Town Above the Clouds.” From there, the trail begins to descend into a greener, more lush cloud forest landscape. Along the way, we will visit Wiñay Wayna, often referred to as the “Mini Machu Picchu,” one of the most beautiful and best-preserved archaeological sites along the Inca Trail.
Today’s total hiking distance is approximately 12 km (7.5 miles), leading us to the legendary Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you will be rewarded with your first breathtaking panoramic view of Machu Picchu. After capturing your classic photos, we will take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night comfortably in a hotel, resting before your unforgettable visit to the Lost City of the Incas.
On our final day, we will wake up early and enjoy breakfast at the hotel before taking the bus back to the mystical Lost City of the Incas. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the main entrance of Machu Picchu.
Once inside, we will begin a guided tour of approximately 2 hours, during which your expert guide will share the fascinating history, deep cultural significance, and sacred energy of this incredible Wonder of the World.
After the tour, we will return to Aguas Calientes to enjoy a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco, marking the end of your unforgettable 5-Day Inca Trail adventure.
