Overview

Inca Trail Peru 4 Days to Machu picchu

The Classic 4-Day Inca Trail is the most famous trek to Machu Picchu — and for good reason. It’s a fast-paced, immersive journey that follows the original stone path built by the Incas, crossing mountains, valleys, cloud forests, and ancient ruins on the way to the lost city.

This version of the trail is intense but unforgettable. Each day requires focus, energy, and spirit. From the very first step at Km 82 to the final sunrise at the Sun Gate, you’re moving with purpose — just like the Inca messengers once did. It’s a true adventure that demands more… but gives back even more.

Because that’s the time it truly takes to walk the sacred Inca Trail. Four days strike the perfect balance  challenging but achievable, rich in history, scenery, and meaning. No shortcuts, no detours   just the original path to Machu Picchu, exactly as the Incas intended.

Itinerary

  • Your legendary Inca Trail adventure begins early in the morning, when our team picks you up directly from your hotel in Cusco. After a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley, we arrive at the famous Kilometer 82 — the official starting point of this ancient and sacred route.

From here, the trail begins. We cross the Urubamba River and step into a landscape where history and nature merge: towering mountains, traditional farmlands, and local communities that still carry the spirit of the Inca ancestors.

Today’s hike is around 11 kilometers and offers a gentle but meaningful introduction to the trail  giving your body time to adjust and your soul space to connect. Along the way, we’ll visit the archaeological site of Llactapata, a once-hidden Inca city nestled in the mountains, where your guide will share stories that bring the ruins to life.

By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at our campsite in Wayllabamba, where a warm meal and a sky full of stars await. It’s only the beginning, but already you’ll feel the magic and energy of walking in the footsteps of the ancient ones.
