Inca Trail Peru: 5 Days to Machu Picchu — Small Groups

Inca Trail Peru is the name behind one of the most legendary and ancient paths of the Andes — a sacred route leading to a magical and spiritual place. In ancient times, the Incas walked this trail to connect with their gods, offering their spirits through rituals and ceremonies that reached beyond the visible world. This path was more than a journey through the mountains; it was a journey between realms — the physical and the spiritual. The Andean people lived with deep respect for their beliefs, and each step carried the energy of their faith, turning everyday life into a sacred experience.

Today, hiking the Inca Trail in Peru is one of the most rewarding ways to reach Machu Picchu, and our 5-day itinerary is built for travelers who want time to actually take it in — not rush through it. Small groups mean a more personal pace, closer contact with your guide, and room to actually stop at the archaeological sites along the way instead of walking past them.

If you’re comparing routes, our Classic 4-Day Inca Trail covers similar ground on a tighter schedule — the 5-day version simply gives you an extra day to acclimatize and enjoy the trail without rushing. This trek follows the original Inca stonework through cloud forest and high mountain passes, ending the same way it has for centuries: walking through the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu, a site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.
